A famous, if somewhat uncritical history, compiled from numerous sources. In this edition there are two, different, plates 13 one of which is assumed should have been titled XVII not XIII. The four contents pages are also transposed in volume 1.

Hardcover.

A good solid set in full leather bindings. All plates present. Tears to a couple of maps. A few bits of pencil marginalia. Volume 1 with splits to spine. Volume 2 with nibbles to top of spine. Corners bumped. Rubbing to edges. Previous owner's inscription to front free endpapers.

  • VG: Complete but with small imperfections (e.g. small tears or creases).
  • G: Complete but with more substantive faults (e.g. bad creasing, large tears, or pieces missing)
